Services

Worship begins at 11:00 on Sunday morning. Our worship service has four distinct parts:

  • Gathering in God’s Name – We call ourselves to communal worship. We confess our sins together and are assured of God’s pardon.

  • Proclaiming God’s Word – We introduce the Scripture topic for children, hear the Word of God, and receive the pastor’s message.

  • Responding to God’s Grace – We give back our offerings to God and the church, and we affirm what we believe.

  • Departing to Serve – We are blessed to go and serve the Lord.

A woman wearing a black robe and colorful stole is seated on the steps of a church altar, reading to a group of five children sitting on the red carpeted floor. Behind her, five choir members dressed in white robes are seated in front of stained glass windows with religious imagery, and a large floral arrangement is on the wall to the right.
  • Each part of worship includes different hymns each Sunday that the congregation sings together from the hymnal. The adult choir leads the singing in worship year round, accompanied regularly by the organ or piano and occasionally with flute or harp. The handbell choir adds special musical selections around the holidays.

  • The Lord’s Supper is the joyful feast of the people of God. Around the Table, God’s people are in communion with Christ and with all who belong to Christ. Typically, we celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of every month. Several times a year Communion is served to our at home members.

  • In Baptism, the Holy Spirit marks us as Christ’s own forever.  Baptism is God’s gift of grace and also God’s summons to respond to that grace. Baptisms are conducted through consultation with the pastor and are approved by the Church Session. Requests for Baptisms may be made at any time, and the sacrament is held during Sunday morning worship.

  • Weddings, Baptisms, and Funerals are conducted through consultation with the pastor. Requests for Weddings and Baptisms may be made at any time, and are approved by the Church Session. Learn more about special events at FIPC.
